Add a Little Glamour With Flowers on Your Hair

Web hosting">

Glamorous flowers on your hair is a sure way to add elegance and a wonderful way to carry the textures and colors from the wedding dress. It doesn't matter what colors you have chosen, it is very easy to coordinate the flowers for your hair accessories with fabric flowers. Fabric flowers are an easy handmade project and can be made with ribbon, silk organza, organdy, or velvet.

One of the easiest ways to make a fabric flower is to cut a square of fabric. Make cuts almost to the center to form petals. The petals are still square at this point. Round off the square edges and singe with a tea light. Make three sizes from small, medium, and large. The petals do not have to be perfect. Some can be larger than others as in nature. Singeing the edges will cause the petals to curl and "cup" like real flower petals. Sew or glue the pieces together with the smaller piece in the center. Attach a round piece of fabric to the back and glue to an alligator clip or hair comb. The center of the flower can be embellished with Swarovski crystals, pearls, or inexpensive crystal earrings. Using earrings is a great way to make use of the single one left when you have lost the other one!

Now that you have made one beautiful flower, don't stop there! Make several different sizes to form a beautiful cluster for a hair comb or headband. Add some amazing feathers and you will have a stylish fascinator! Fabric flowers also look great on dresses, worn as corsages, and even on your shoes. Purses, ponytail bands, and bun wraps.... guest book pens, votive candles, and napkin rings.... they are so versatile and so beautiful. Shoe clips are sold at craft stores and it is as easy as gluing the flower to the clip! This is also a great opportunity to use Swarovski crystals or pearls to embellish your shoes instead of fabric flowers. Small super magnets are a great way to attach fabric flowers to elegant dresses and purses. They are also sold at craft stores. Glue or tape one magnet to the flower and place another magnet behind the dress fabric. It will not only stay in place, but you don't have to worry about making a pin hole!

A lovely idea for a fabric flower is to use several different kinds of fabric and three shades of the same color. By using different textures, the flower will be more interesting. By using three shades of the same color it will have more depth. An elegant look for the mother of the bride is to perfectly coordinate her ensemble with a flower made from the same fabric as her dress or suit. Many bridal shops offer a fabric swatch (or two) that can be used to make a flower or they can be ordered from the manufacturer. An accessory such as a scarf or handkerchief can also be used. This is a perfect opportunity to perfectly match the bridesmaids hair flowers to their dresses. Feathers for a fascinator can be dyed to match the fabric colors as well as pearls.

We have so many materials available to create anything we can dream of! Flowers on your hair is one of the loveliest choices and is sure to please every bride!

Free Domain Registration">

Summer might be coming to an end but the great news is you don't have to go to the seaside to get that beach hair look. However, it is nearly as easy as lazing in the sand. This sexy style works just as well in the cooler months, irrespective of what kind of hair type you have, and the following beauty tips and advice will help you to achieve it easily.

Hair type: fine to medium, straight to loose waves

• Before you go to bed wash and condition your hair but only towel dry it.
• Using a conditioning moose distribute in sections throughout all of your hair. Once this is done comb it in.
• Finally, scrunch your hair then sleep on it.
• Once you wake the next morning your hair will have a texture and volume ready for the beach hair look.
• Twist and curl your hair using a medium size curling iron beginning at your nape. Once at your crown, starting from the roots to the ends, continue to twist and curl your hair.
• Once your hair has cooled down, use your fingers to soften the curls using a greaseless lightweight hair serum.

Hair type: thick, curly to coarse

• As before, shampoo and condition your hair then towel dry before you go to bed.
• In addition, use a relaxing balm and comb this through in order to tame your curls.
• Again, starting at your nape, twist and curl your hair using a medium size curling iron.
• Once your hair has been allowed to cool, use your fingers and a lightweight greaseless hair serum to loosen the curls.

Additional beauty tips and advice

Beauty tips and advice for one step further would involve braiding your hair before going to bed. If you have fine hair, then use a conditioning mousse and, for thick hair, use a relaxing balm. In both cases, apply evenly and comb through. When putting in your braids, start them two inches from your scalp. Remember that the bigger the braid, the bigger the wave and the smaller the braid the more crimped the beach hair look will be. Once you've taken out the braids, loosen the waves with your fingers and a lightweight greaseless hair serum.

By following these beauty tips and advice, you can have beautiful 'just come from the beach' looks and you don't have to go to the seaside, all from the comfort of your own home.

Can Heartburn Happen During Pregnancy?

Free Domain Name">

Heartburn is a burning sensation in the chest caused by reflux of acid from the stomach that is usually due to a dysfunctional Lower Esophageal Sphincter (LES). However, during pregnancy, heartburn happens not because the LES is dysfunctional, but, primarily due to the increased level of progesterone released by the placenta. Progesterone helps relax smooth muscles, such as the LES, that causes the acid to backflow from the stomach to the esophagus; thus, producing heartburn. Another contributing factor is the fetal growth; as the fetus grows bigger, the pressure on the abdomen increases contributing to acid reflux which results to heartburn.

Though heartburn may be inevitable in pregnancy, it is important to minimize its effects to lessen the discomfort.

- Eating small, frequent meals should be advised. Big meals would help increase the pressure in the stomach, aggravating the heartburn
- Highly acidic foods should be avoided because this increases the risk of heartburn
- Mentholated foods should be avoided because it helps relax the already relaxed LES, increasing the tendency of heartburn
- Caffeinated drinks decrease the pressure in the LES resulting to heartburn
- Alcohol consumption should be stopped because alcohol relaxes the LES causing the gastric contents to backflow to the esophagus
- Spicy foods should be avoided because these increases gastric acid secretion
- Carbonated drinks should be avoided because it distends the stomach which increases pressure to the LES allowing backflow of the partly digested food (chyme)
- When bending, it is important to follow proper body mechanics by bending the knees instead of the waist. This prevents increased pressure in the stomach.
- Avoid eating one to two hours before bedtime to prevent backflow of the chyme
- Sleep with the head of the bed elevated to decrease the risk of reflux
- Smoking should be avoided since it precipitates heartburn

For relief of Heartburn, physicians may prescribe medications that are safe for pregnant women. Antacids that contain magnesium hydroxide or magnesium oxide are proved to be safe for pregnant women. These act to neutralize gastric acid, decreasing pain.

However, pregnant women should bear in mind that they should not buy over the counter antacids because some antacids are not safe for pregnancy. Antacids containing Aluminum can be very toxic to the fetus. It may cause irreversible damage to the baby. Aspirin and aspirin-containing medications should also be avoided during pregnancy because these may increase the risk for bleeding.
It is important to note that pregnant women should be careful on whatever medications they take because these may damage the fetus. At all instances, it is important that they should consult the doctor first.

10 Cheap Tips to a Healthier You

Free Domain Name">

We're all looking for an easy way to get healthier habits into our lives. With all the product ads promising to slim you down, you wonder what really works. Some of them are outrageously expensive and don't work. We want to be careful on how much we spend. Here are 10 habits everyone should have in their routine to improve their health in multiple ways. Not only will they not cost you a dime but will end up saving you money!

1. Stock fruits and vegetables wherever you go- Most of our food choices are limited to what is around us. We don't have time to go out and grab a bite to eat so we sneak into the break room for that last doughnut. Put a bag of baby carrots in the company fridge for when you need a quick snack. Bring in a bag of apples or a crate of oranges to promote healthier eating in the entire office. This makes it more convenient to eat healthy.

2. Make your own coffee- The biggest reason people go out for coffee is because they don't have time nor the energy to make it when they wake up in the morning. Most coffee pots have a "delay brew" setting so you can set it up the night before and it will be ready when you wake up in the morning. With just a little sugar and milk, you've cut 200 calories from your morning and practically all the fat. That's not all, coffee made at home is about one fourth the cost of coffee from a barista.

3. Have "Your" Day- Work and kids can be demanding. You wonder when you'll get a day off. If you don't take time out for yourself, your waistline could be suffering. Pick one day out of the week that is just about you. The kids can go to a neighbor's house or prepare themselves for school. Hubby can spend it with your rubbing your feet while you eat ice cream or without you on the golf course. That is all up to you because it is your day.

4. Freeze your own TV dinners- If you've ever bought a TV dinner for convenience, you know they are expensive, contain a lot of salt, and don't have a lot of vegetables. Even the ones that call themselves healthy are mostly carbohydrates in smaller portions. For half the cost, make your own and avoid the salt. Add more broccoli to that pasta or make a vegetarian dish. All you need are durable storage bowls that are freezer and microwave safe. When you are ready to eat them, just defrost them over night or put them in the microwave on medium for 3-5 minutes.

5. Cut cable- I swear I will never have cable television again. It was way too easy to turn it on and waste an entire day. With the creation of watching television online, it is much cheaper to pick and choose what to watch on Hulu than to channel surf. You'll find yourself having more time for other things when sitting on the couch in front of a screen is not as easy as using the remote. What will you do with your spare time? Read that book you've been meaning to finish? Go to the gym?

6. Eat less meat- It sounds like something an animal rights person would say, but it works. Meat contains a lot of protein, but also a lot of animal fat. You can get the same amount of protein in beans and leafy greens. Substitute beans for beef in Mexican food. Choose eggplant, nuts, or edamame when making Chinese food. Best of all, eating less meat makes it taste so much better when you have it.

7. Create a "Kids" Day- No, this is not a day when it's all about your kids. This is the day when you act like a kid. Go out and play with your kids to get some exercise. Eat ice cream and watch your favorite shows. When we were young we didn't have a care in the world and relaxation was not a word but a way of life.

8. Mix green tea with your iced tea- Iced tea has always been a staple in the United States whether you take it sweetened or unsweetened. When making iced tea, switch out half of the black tea bags for green tea bags. Green tea has weight loss properties and you can't taste it over the black tea.

9. Dance- Like a maniac. Dancing gets the heart pumping and the brain relaxing. You move every inch of your body when you dance, especially your midsection. Who cares if the neighbor's see when you'll be rocking a tiny bathing suit next summer?

10. Let the children have chores- I cannot stress this enough to parents. If you are not giving your children chores, you are missing out on an easy responsibility lesson and probably running yourself ragged. A four year old can make their bed and put their toys away. An eight year old can do his own laundry. Giving children chores takes a big strain off of you and leaves you more time for relaxation. This in turn helps us make small but healthier decisions.

The Facts About Cord Blood Banking

Free Domain Name">

Parents are often opting these days to save their newborn's umbilical blood for the possibility the baby or a close family member might need it to treat a disease. Statistics available so far indicate only a one in 2700 chance the baby will need the cord blood and a one in 1400 chance other near family members may need it. However, this blood can be used for non-family members and is being used to treat diseases and save lives. It is less likely the blood will be a match for non-family members but many matches are made successfully.

Cord blood banking is the process of obtaining and storing a newborns umbilical blood. The umbilical cord is the cord that attaches from the babies belly button to the placenta in the mother's womb during pregnancy. The umbilical cord is the channel for provision of nutrients and oxygen to the growing fetus. Until recently the umbilical cord and the placenta were considered medical waste and simply disposed of after birth.

Stem cells, researchers discovered, could cure many diseases such as leukemia and help others such as brain injury and Alzheimer's. Umbilical cord blood is full of these precious stem cells. Cerebral palsy has been successfully treated with stem cells. As research continues it is believed even more uses for stem cells such as spinal cord repair will be discovers. Stem cell research is at the cutting edge of medicine and the possibilities for new healing modalities for diseases using stem cells are enormous.

Harvesting umbilical blood is totally painless to both mother and child. If you wish to donate your child's cord blood or harvest for private or public use you need to let your doctor and the bank of your choice know by the 34th week of pregnancy. The cord bank will send professionals to collect the blood from the umbilical cord after it is cut and the placenta has been delivered.

Approximately 80ml or the equivalent of 3 ounces of blood is collected. The blood needs to be collected within 10 to fifteen minutes of birth which is why arrangements must be made ahead of time. The collection of this blood does not interfere with the birth in any way. Donating to a public bank is free of charge.

After collection the cord blood is tested for any diseases. If any such diseases are discovered the family will be notified. The blood is then processed and slowly frozen to -196 degrees. The blood can be stored indefinitely so long as the temp is maintained. Cord banks have multiple back up sources of power to avoid any loss of this precious resource.

If you can afford to harvest and store your newborns cord blood by all means does so. Banking can give you peace of mind for the future health of your child. If you cannot afford to harvest and store your newborns cord blood considers donating it. It cost you nothing and is painless but may save someone's life. The cord and its blood are simply discarded if it is not harvested and will help no one. Who knows, maybe someone else's donated cord blood will help you or a family member one day.

Cord blood banking can be done privately or publicly. Public banks take donations or blood from any child whose parent decides to give that gift. Some parents cannot afford the price to store their child's cord blood but nonetheless decide to donate it to a bank so that others can be helped.

Private cord banks have an initial set up cost of 1500-2500 dollars and a yearly fee to store the blood of 100-150 dollars. Some public banks will agree to keep a portion of the blood for family use if the rest is made available for general public use. Research which cord blood bank you wish to use carefully and when you have decided give your baby or perhaps someone else the precious gift of life.

Safe Drinking Water

Free Domain Name">

Do you have safe drinking water?

We are told repeatedly that we need to drink at least 8 glasses of water per day. But, what kind of water? Does that mean tap water?

A New York Times article 12/12/2009, exposed the fact that, "Millions in the U.S. drink Dirty Water" and that over 20% of our country's water treatment systems are in violation of the Safe Drinking Water Act.

This means that 20% of America's water systems are contaminated with over-the-limit levels of...

Pollutants- residue from prescription drugs, (antibiotics, statins, antidepressants, etc.) which are flushed into the sewage systems from the human body and the municipal water systems are not able to filter them out.
Toxic chemicals- lead, arsenic, uranium, and others.
Sewage-sourced bacteria and surface runoff from pesticides and manufacturing - over 60,000 chemicals are now used by manufacturers and only 91 of them are monitored by the Safe Drinking Water Act.

Just think, 62 million Americans have been drinking and using tap water that failed to meet at least one government health guideline.

(To find out the statistics for your city, you can just type your zip code into the Environmental Working Group's online tap water quality database. The results are quite frightening.)

To make matters worse, some of the harmful chemicals in our water have been intentionally added-

for example- fluoride. There has been much misinformation about fluoride's ability to prevent cavities.

The EPA with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has recently lowered the amount of fluoride allowed in drinking water. The reason is that the Center for Disease Control has announced that 32% of American children now have dental fluorosis. This is a condition in which the teeth have white, brown or black stains caused by a weakening of the tooth enamel. And your bones are affected as much as your teeth.

Dental fluorosis is the first symptom of fluoride poisoning. How sad that so many cities have forced their citizens to drink that poison for so long! Most European countries have already banned the use of fluoride in drinking water.

The Center for Disease Control reports that many children are taken to poison centers every year because of swallowing toothpaste with fluoride. Why should we allow that to be in our drinking water.

So... Is Bottled Water the Answer?

Definitely not!

The TV ads show a bubbling mountain stream or active people enjoying fresh tasting water. This has influenced our modern society to spend up to $100 billion each year on bottled water.

Most people who drink bottled water would be surprised to learn that...

Although municipal water is required to be tested by government certified labs, bottled water is not.
Over 40% of all bottled water comes from the tap.
Plastic bottles can leach carcinogenic phthalates into water.
Empty plastic bottles are smothering our oceans and landfills.
Chemicals from the plastic get into the water. PCB's affect hormone balance and contribute to cancer

So... What Is The Answer?

The answer has to be a quality filtering system that can produce clean water for drinking, cooking and bathing.

After researching the top selling water filters on the market, I found one unusual product that stands out for its quality and its selective ability to filter out the dangerous metals and pathogens but not the natural minerals (such as calcium, magnesium and potassium) which are necessary for good health.

I do hope you will investigate the healthy alternatives if you have been relying upon unsafe tap or bottled water.

Please search carefully to be sure the system you choose gets rid of the dangerous chemicals, but leaves the

important minerals that are necessary for good health.
