Do you have safe drinking water?
We are told repeatedly that we need to drink at least 8 glasses of water per day. But, what kind of water? Does that mean tap water?
A New York Times article 12/12/2009, exposed the fact that, "Millions in the U.S. drink Dirty Water" and that over 20% of our country's water treatment systems are in violation of the Safe Drinking Water Act.
This means that 20% of America's water systems are contaminated with over-the-limit levels of...
Pollutants- residue from prescription drugs, (antibiotics, statins, antidepressants, etc.) which are flushed into the sewage systems from the human body and the municipal water systems are not able to filter them out.
Toxic chemicals- lead, arsenic, uranium, and others.
Sewage-sourced bacteria and surface runoff from pesticides and manufacturing - over 60,000 chemicals are now used by manufacturers and only 91 of them are monitored by the Safe Drinking Water Act.
Just think, 62 million Americans have been drinking and using tap water that failed to meet at least one government health guideline.
(To find out the statistics for your city, you can just type your zip code into the Environmental Working Group's online tap water quality database. The results are quite frightening.)
To make matters worse, some of the harmful chemicals in our water have been intentionally added-
for example- fluoride. There has been much misinformation about fluoride's ability to prevent cavities.
The EPA with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has recently lowered the amount of fluoride allowed in drinking water. The reason is that the Center for Disease Control has announced that 32% of American children now have dental fluorosis. This is a condition in which the teeth have white, brown or black stains caused by a weakening of the tooth enamel. And your bones are affected as much as your teeth.
Dental fluorosis is the first symptom of fluoride poisoning. How sad that so many cities have forced their citizens to drink that poison for so long! Most European countries have already banned the use of fluoride in drinking water.
The Center for Disease Control reports that many children are taken to poison centers every year because of swallowing toothpaste with fluoride. Why should we allow that to be in our drinking water.
So... Is Bottled Water the Answer?
Definitely not!
The TV ads show a bubbling mountain stream or active people enjoying fresh tasting water. This has influenced our modern society to spend up to $100 billion each year on bottled water.
Most people who drink bottled water would be surprised to learn that...
Although municipal water is required to be tested by government certified labs, bottled water is not.
Over 40% of all bottled water comes from the tap.
Plastic bottles can leach carcinogenic phthalates into water.
Empty plastic bottles are smothering our oceans and landfills.
Chemicals from the plastic get into the water. PCB's affect hormone balance and contribute to cancer
So... What Is The Answer?
The answer has to be a quality filtering system that can produce clean water for drinking, cooking and bathing.
After researching the top selling water filters on the market, I found one unusual product that stands out for its quality and its selective ability to filter out the dangerous metals and pathogens but not the natural minerals (such as calcium, magnesium and potassium) which are necessary for good health.
I do hope you will investigate the healthy alternatives if you have been relying upon unsafe tap or bottled water.
Please search carefully to be sure the system you choose gets rid of the dangerous chemicals, but leaves the
important minerals that are necessary for good health.
